Children’s Book Week – Early Childhood Nominations – Review 3

Come Down, Cat!
Hartnett, Sonya
Illustrated by Masciullo, Lucia

If you have ever owned a cat, chances are that you have experienced this situation or something very similar. Cats are very stubborn creatures with minds of their own. It is hard to persuade them to do anything that you want them to do, even if it is for their own good! Beautifully illustrated by Lucia Masciullo, this is a story that is told in many ways from a child’s perception….which makes it more charming. It is one of those stories which is so simple that you think: “Now, why didn’t I write this down myself!” We do not advise, however, that children should climb up ladders to fetch cats! This story is told with typical Hartnett style.

Dog lovers will like this too, I am sure that they will say that dogs would never do such foolish things!
