Stephen Michael King has three nominations in this year’s CBCA awards, so that, in itself, is a great reward. This is a simple story with colourful images. It is a story about two friends who have a lot in common, but also have a lot of differences.
It is a quirky friendship that seems to work. Stephen Michael King’s drawings are easily recognised. His characters have certain features that are instantly familiar. There is a lot of colour in the book and as with most of his books, the pictures dominate, but they tell a lively story. This is a good bedtime read or one for a rainy afternoon.
Enjoyable, but I am biased.
