Nomination: The Book of the Year: Early Childhood – Ollie and the Wind by Ghosh Ronojoy

Ollie-and-the-wind

One of the most unique books that I have read in a while. It is refreshing to find a book so original and imaginative. It probably won’t win anything because it is the type of book that doesn’t, but it has so much to offer. The pictures are simple and colourful, telling the story of a little boy who has things ‘taken’ by the wind. Then he offers up things to the wind that it does not want. Then he comes up with the answer from under his bed. The ending goes full circle. It is a simple story with a curious little boy at the centre of it all.
